The Magna model was the successor to the classic Martin Committe. Originally named the "Custom Committee", Martin renamed their top-of-the-line model the "Magna" in 1964. This new edition of their flagship trumpet featured a few cosmetic changes: the valve trim, waterkeys, nickel-silver leadpipe, shepherd's crook bell, baluster design, 3rd slide stop rod, and 1st slide trigger. This trumpet appears to have the same bell flare as the Committee model.

This instrument shows some minor cosmetic wear due to age, but is in excellent shape mechanically. There is some minor lacquer loss on the bell seam and throughout the body of the instrument. The leadpipe is resistant to corrosion due to the nickel-silver alloy used. There are no signs of damage or repair to this instrument.

The Magna model plays with a similar tone to the Committee, making it an excellent choice for jazz music. This instrument plays with a rich, broad sound, perfect for solo repertoire or small group jazz settings. This cornet is marked with an L above the serial number, which indicated that is it a .468" bore.

This trumpet has recently received a professional ultrasonic cleaning and valve alignment at Beverly Music Company.
