1937 Martin Handcraft Committee "Searchlight" Alto Saxophone
This is a great example of a Martin Handcraft Committee I "Searchlight" (or City-Skyscrape) Alto Saxophone with original lacquer from 1937 (S/N119xxx)! This is the first Martin saxophone with "same side" bell keys, as well as the Martin patented adjustable thumb-mechanism in fantastic shape. The original lacquer is in great shape with some wear and tear over the years, but no dents that we can detect. The pads are in great shape and they all seal pretty well. Some very minor adjustments might be needed but this sax can play! This sax plays just as nice as it looks! Intonation is spot on, with a soulful tone with plenty of colors. The alto comes with original neck with matching serial, original case in great shape, 3 mouthpieces - Brilhart Ebolin 2*, Selmer S-80 C* and Vandoren A35, and a Selmer ligature (easily worth over $200 combined!).
