The King Silver Flair was the top-of-the-line offering from the H.N. White company prior to their acquisition by UMI. The Silver Flair is a lightweight trumpet that was very popular with studio and jazz musicians in its day. This trumpet incorporates mid-century aesthetics with vintage proportions, making a trumpet that is as great to look at as it is to play. The early 70's were a time that lightweight trumpets were very popular, and makers like Schilke, Conn, and Calicchio were leading the way with feather-light instruments. The King Silver Flair has a strong resemblance to the Conn 60B "Super Connstellation", and plays with a rich, lively tone. The Silver Flair model was preferred by Uan Rasey, Dizzy Gillespie, and countless other professionals in the 1970's.

This trumpet is in excellent condition for its age, and shows some wear consistent with its age. The silver plate is in good shape throughout, with some minor scratches throughout. There is evidence of minor repairs on the bell. The valves have excellent compression and fast action, and the slides are smooth and fast. The braces and valve caps have a sleek, organic look to them which gives this horn a ton of personality. It plays with a pure, crisp tone and excellent intonation. The King Silver Flair was used by Uan Rasey on the famous trumpet solo from the movie Chinatown (1974).
