Conn "Connstellation" 38B 1962
The Conn "Connstellation" model was one of the most innovative and unique trumpet designs of the 20th century. Built with a number of Conn's proprietary instrument building technologies including "Cry-Steel" pistons, electro-formed copper bells and leadpipes, a wide wrap, short stroke pistons, and a .438" bore size. Don't be fooled by the bore size! These trumpets play with a beautiful, dark tone, thanks to the 5 1/8" bell and nickel plating. The Connstellation is an incredibly efficient design, making fast passages and pyrotechnic trumpet playing a breeze. The Connstellation was the flagship for Conn in the 60's, and Conn trumpets were used by Maynard Ferguson, Snooky Young, Freddie Hubbard, Lee Morgan, Chet Baker, and many more.
This particular trumpet is in excellent condition for its age and is from the golden age of production at the C.G. Conn factory in Elkhart (S/N8xxxxx). The valves are fast and with good compression. This trumpet is a fantastic player, and feels easy to play into the upper register yet still maintains a rich, dark sound. This is a fantastic vintage instrument that can hold its own with any modern trumpet! Included with the trumpet is an original Connstellation mouthpiece and Connstellation case.
